Kauai Plantation Railway
As the first new railroad to be built in Hawaii in 100 years the Kauai Plantation Railway replicates the days when each sugar plantation had their own on-property rail line to move cane from the fields to the mills. The 3.5 mile route takes visitors through a tropical plantation set adjacent to the 1936 Landmark Wilxox Residence. The Architect designed every aspect of the project, including the route, the cars, structures and related graphics, as well as restoring the main residence. It has become a “must see” attraction on the Island.
